When I was putting together my acronyn, M.O.V.E., ( 4 ways of getting unstuck and living the life that you love), I thought about myself in the past when I was really stuck, and how vital it was for me to verbalize, or share what was going on with me with someone I trusted. With someone I knew cared about me and had only my best intentions in mind.
At that time, back in 1991, when my then husband was using drugs, I was so ashamed I kept what was going on in my home inside of me, not telling anyone. It was destroying me. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t focus, I was nervous, and I wasn’t able to be fully present for my children.
This went on for a few weeks. I had set up a massage with someone who knew me and cared about me, and had given me massages in the past. When she began working on me, she was quite surprised at how thin I had become. She said immediately, “What is going on, you have lost so much weight?!”
I began to cry, and then shared all of the horrible things that had been going on with my husband shooting up drugs and my discovery of it all. It was like a huge weight was lifted off of me, to share, verbalize with someone, what I had bottled up inside of me for weeks. I could see things more clearly after I shared with her the secrets I was living within.
Now, in later years, in the process of moving through a “stuck time”, I know it’s vital to share with someone, who has my back, and won’t judge, what it going on. This is a piece of getting “unstuck” that I feel can’t be left out, to fully move through to live the life that you love.
I have come to learn what I didn’t know in the early days, once I have verbalized and shared what is going on, I don’t need to keep rehashing it all and drawing more of my attention to it. I now do the best I can to move along and shift my focus to what I do want and what I want this circumstance to look and feel like.
My hope is that my posts are helping you in some way to not feel all alone, and know that everyone gets stuck at some point along their journey, and most probably, many times!
If you have received value from my blogs, I encourage you to “Share” them on FB with your friends, or send them per email, so others can be helped from my articles and all of the articles written by my guests!
