Guarding Yourself From Negativity
By Connie Hertz
Guarding ourselves from negativity is part of taking care of ourselves.
How do we do that?
I have used white light, God’s protective light, for many years now. I visualize white light around myself, and those I love. It’s a way to stop, say a quick prayer and take it a step further, by picturing a brilliant white light around ourselves, our homes, our vehicles, and our loved ones.
This is one way.
What do you use or do to guard yourself from negativity? Comment below, so we can get more feedback on this topic!
Knowing who you are, and loving yourself is vital, to guard yourself against others negativity. When someone makes comments or statements about you, that you know in your heart of hearts isn’t true, loving yourself and checking in, asking if what they are saying holds any truth at all, stopping and deep breathing, saying a quick prayer helps me.
What one of my spiritual teachers says, is that when someone makes negative comments about you, it’s really their battle with themselves. No one can make our days awful or happy for that matter. All of this is our own responsibility. We can allow what they say to ruin our precious present moments, or we can stop, assess and deep breathe, and check in to see if what is happening is truth or not.
As I grow and become aware that when I take things personally, I am getting out of my anger or sadness much faster than I ever have. I am not yet at the point where I am not feeling even a twinge of doubt or feeling yucky about the situation.
What I do my best to remember is what another spiritual teacher has taught me, is to say to myself, “Interesting point of view”.
She also is teaching me that when I perceive things instead of get into the human feelings of something, or a situation, it holds a higher vibration or energy. I can stay in perhaps a neutral place without judgment more easily, when I remember to do this.
She also has suggested saying, “Return to Sender”.
It’s like everything else I learn, it’s a practice.
What I know for sure, is watching what I’m saying as many moments as I can, to myself, is so important to maintaining my positive attitude and the way I perceive things.
In the end and at the end of my days, I am fully responsible to myself for everything I think, say and do. Or don’t do!
I take responsibility for what I have or do not have in my life. I know with my thoughts and actions and feelings, I can keep lots of great things away from me, if I’m not in alignment with God, my Source.
I give thanks to God, and find appreciation for all that I do have.
What’s important as well, is how I view everyone and everything. Completely my responsibility.
I am beginning a study group on Monday, July 22, with the book, Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill. This book I have read other times in my life and participated in a 10 week study group about 5 years ago. What it does is set ourselves into a conscious positive attitude, reciting our Main Purpose Statements, and helps us create the life we really want to live. The principles Mr. Hill teaches are tried and true over many decades now.
Reading daily readings, and devotions, writing in a gratitude journal, as I have stated before I do each day, are also ways to guard ourselves against negativity.
Choosing the people we are around carefully, is something else we can do. It is said that we are a sum total of our 5 closest people in our lives!
To end this, I will challenge you to ask yourself, “What are ways I can and will take care of myself, and guard against negativity?”
Many blessings to all of you,
Connie
