Do you have a word for 2018?
Many of my friends have a word for each new year. Something that they feel they need to get stronger in.
As I have been thinking of my word for this year, it became clear to me what I need to work on.
My word is patience.
As many of you have seen on the Emotional Chart I shared last week, and have shared in lots of my blogs, being Impatient is number 10 on the right side of the scale.
The right side is where your vibrations are lower. To live a life you love, you must live on the left side of the Emotional Scale more often than not.
As I catch myself being impatient, I may laugh at myself to shift my vibration or I may take a deep breath and think of something I appreciate.
Both of these will shift you to a higher vibration, so you’re not staying within impatience for as long.
I was at an Al-Anon meeting for the first time in years yesterday with an old friend. She and I used to go to this meeting for many years back when we had alcoholics/addicts in our lives.
Al-Anon is a support group for families and friends of addicts/alcoholics.
Yesterday’s topic was the 7th Step, “I humbly ask Him to remove my shortcomings”.
I spoke about my needing to have more patience. I was reminded I need to ask God to help me remove this “shortcoming”.
I am aware lots of times throughout my week, when I am impatient. I want what I want and I want it now. Ha!
Have you heard that we teach about what we need the most to learn?
Traffic is one thing I can avoid fairly well that creates impatience inside of me. I choose when I drive places, most of the time, when the traffic is not heavy.
There are other things I get impatient about in my life.
What it seems for me is that I need to slow down, take deep breaths, trust in God and ask for this shortcoming of mine to be removed.
What is your word for this year? Have you thought about it?
I challenge you to think about what it is for you. What one thing keeps popping up that needs to be strengthened inside of you? What one thing do you need, to be able to move forward? What would be something you notice you need to work on?
My friend Angie wrote about her word for last year being balance and her word for this year being empower.
She said that many lessons come from her focusing on her word the best she can throughout her year.
Are you willing to take this on as well?
Please email me back or leave me a comment below with your word for this year once you have it, OK?
Check in with me throughout this year to see how I’m doing with becoming more patient!
With much love and many blessings to each of you,
Connie
