My plea for no more hate in the United States of America is my topic this week.
What is going on in this country has been on my heart for quite some time now and I know many in our country have similar feelings.
We all have the right to feel and think the way we choose. Only as our country elected Donald Trump November 8, 2016 as the President of the United States and after he took office in January 2017, people and their attitudes became more mean and hateful.
As my dad who was born in 1930 said to me, “I have never seen our country this divided in my lifetime”.
There is so much hate spewing out in the media and among people more than ever before. Social media and the fact that so much of our news commentators are so biased against our President, play a big part in this hatred going on.
So many are acting like young school children with grudges.
How our President reacts to all of this plays a big part as well.
I have been thinking about writing something about this and after the attempted assassination the other day at a Congressional baseball practice, where 5 people were shot by a man who hated Republications, I knew it was time.
Thank God for the Capitol Police that stopped the gunman from killing everyone on that field.
What is the answer? Or answers? How can we become a nation united? Can we?
Maybe not totally because we will always have different opinions. Can we be united even with differing opinions?
Differing opinions can be of value. If people can be grown up enough to have healthy debates without spewing so much hate and malice, I feel there is hope. The more perspectives in the mix, the greater potential for wonderful creations to occur.
Our country needs to find a way to do this. The rest of the world is watching and I believe those who can bring harm to our nation need to see a more grown up, united country here in the United States of America, where differing opinions are not tearing us apart.
It’s up to each of you, each of us. It’s up to our leadership here in America. We all play a part in all of this, each and every second of every day.
I encourage you to make peace with everyone who opposes you and everyone you oppose. Know that to live in a country that allows freedom of speech, to voice your opinion, without persecution, is a wonderful part of this democracy we live in.
If you’re a respectful human being, its not OK to create hateful videos, hurt others with words or weapons. Go back to the Golden Rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
I see so many out there forgetting all of this. I see people forgetting that what you put out in thought and deed, is creating your own reality every second of every day.
If I could talk to President Trump, I would say all of the above and this:
“Mr. President, we need your leadership right now as the leader of our country and the free world. I beg you to stop tweeting things that have hate in them and stop calling people names. I have watched as you have brought so much of this hate and dislike to yourself and to your party.
The media has been out of control with snotty, mean hateful comments about you. They don’t even pretend to be objective at all. With every mean tweet you tweet it gets worse. Every time you are in front of the camera and act like a teenager and lash back at people, you make it worse.
Please keep moving forward with your agenda despite all of the hate directed at you. Please bring the leaders of the opposite party together and draw a truce. I hope and pray all of you will work together for the good of this country.
I’m not sure how you avoid having human feelings about all the hate going on against you. Maybe that’s not possible. Rely on those that you trust and stop watching any of the negative press. It puts you into a place of a hurt teenager and then you lash out.
I pray for you every day and for our country. The greatest country on earth.”
For all who do not want President Trump in office, I say, another election is in 3 1/2 years.
Only stop hating! Stop putting others down! Enough is enough! He is our President now.
Become the best you can possibly be. Add to others lives with as much kindness as you can. Stop the hate! It only hurts you, those close around you, and this nation.
Leave me a comment with your thoughts about what you will do to improve your own life. For that is how you will help change this country. Take your own personal responsibility, each and everyone of us, without hate!
With hope,
Connie
