How often do you pay attention to your perceptions? As I was in my Friday morning hour pool class at the health club, this blog topic came to my mind.
You see I have been working out consistently now for over 35 years, at least 4 times each week. I used to look at the mostly older ladies, in the pool classes and say to myself, “Wow that would be so easy. I won’t ever do that!”
Just over a year ago I took my first pool class and that evening I was so sore, I needed to take an Aleve!
Ha! Just goes to show you how off my perception of a pool class was!
Friday was the first class of the summer in the outside pool. It was a perfect morning. Blue sky, no clouds, sun shining, birds singing and the strong wonderful smell of the lilacs in the air! I smiled throughout the entire class, savoring everything.
You see if I had held to my perception of a pool class being easy and mostly for old ladies, I would never have experienced what I did Friday in the pool.
Throughout each of the classes, I feel like a lighthearted kid! I’m smiling most of the hour. The workout is very different from anything else I do the other 3 days per week. It’s easier on my almost 62 year old joints.
The water creates an awesome resistance to help strengthen my muscles, unlike my weight classes I take twice each week.
How many times do you do this same thing? Judge a person or an experience without giving it a try?
How often do you not move forward on something because of your perception of it?
As I’m moving along my journey here on earth, I am aware more moments than not of what I’m feeling and also what I’m thinking.
What would happen for you if you adopted this type of self-awareness most of your moments? Do you think your perceptions of people and life would change?
I challenge you to give it a try. Slow down, breathe, appreciate people and things around you. Begin to do things you are unsure of or things that may scare you. I guarantee your perceptions will change!
Leave me a comment about all of this!
Love and blessings,
Connie

I feel like this is something I am always working on. Reducing my criticalness to see a situation or person for what it really is or for who they really are.
Thank you for this reminder.
You’re welcome Tracey! Thanks for your honesty! Sending you love and blessings always!~
