Will you take time to slow down during this holiday season to nurture yourself?
We were at a Christmas party with a group of friends recently. I heard a couple ladies say they were so crazy busy right now with their regular things they do, plus holiday things.
Another friend wrote in her newsletter yesterday about this topic. I’m guessing you may be feeling stress too?
First of all, I’m suggesting you pay special attention to yourself during this holiday season.
What are some ways you can nurture yourself?
I especially love to sit and look at our Christmas tree, shown in the photo. I have 10 LED candles that come on at 4 pm everyday, as it begins to get dark here in Minnesota at that time.
It warms our home and makes me smile.
Additionally, one way of nurturing yourself, is to get physical exercise regularly and especially if you’re feeling stressed. It helps create the feel good endorphin’s in your body.
If you don’t belong to a health club or Y, you can find lots of videos on U tube to guide you through some workouts.
Just choose to get your body moving regularly! Take a walk outside, even if it’s cold and snowy. You can bundle up.
Another thing to pay attention to, is eating as healthy as you can each day.
Yes, even knowing that at holiday parties you may have a treat or two or three, you don’t normally have.
Likewise, keep yourself hydrated with spring water.
Furthermore, take time to meditate and pray, as many days as you can. Even if it’s a short guided meditation while you listen to it on your smart phone, at your desk or in your parked car.
Include taking deep breaths as you find yourself tensing up about something.
Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep! This is a great way of nurturing yourself.
If you have trouble sleeping, a great natural thing to use is Sleepy Time Extra tea. It’s from Celestial Seasonings, sold in many grocery stores. It has Valerian Root.
As a result, when you use 2 tea bags in your cup about one hour before going to bed, you will sleep longer and more peacefully. Let me know how it works for you!~
In one of my readings I am also reminded for 5 min each day to forget about everything. Forget about your fears, problems, any pain that may be happening in your life, your list of things you need to do etc.
During this 5 minutes, take some deep breaths to quiet your body and your mind. Picture in your mind how you want particular situations to go.
How do you want to feel as you go about your moments each day?
It may seem awkward at first and that’s OK.
Only, all of this will have a profound effect on how you’re enjoying your present moments. Especially during the holidays.
Give all of what I suggested your attention right now and each day. Take time to nurture yourself everyday!
I wish for all of you a most joyous, healthy, prosperous, loved filled life and holiday season!
Many blessings,
Connie
