Loving yourself and authenticity go hand in hand.
During this month of February, the month of love, I’d like to share something from 7 years ago, my friend Lori Bestler wrote.
“February is the month of Amour, to love. And this word is certainly easy to spell yet most difficult to both define and understand what it means to love yourself.
I do believe that both men and women struggle with this, however women, who are more of an emotional creature with a brain that is much more complex, struggle more.
Therefore, I’d like to share a poem I wrote for my daughter when she graduated from High School. I wanted to encourage her to take hold of her authenticity, which ultimately means love who you are. I share it with you, to inspire all the women (and men) of the world to do the same.”

Another way to describe being authentic is being genuine or real. You’re also trustworthy.
All qualities important to living a life you love.
Because when you’re living from authenticity, you’re true to who you are. There aren’t any pretenses. Consequently, it makes sense that you would love yourself as you’re living an authentic life.
What are your thoughts?
Finally, I’ve heard it said that authentic people experience life challenges from a place of love, forgiveness, and gratitude. Self-respect is present with people who are living from authenticity. Hence, so is self-love.
I found these quotes I thought were powerful to share with you:
“That inner voice has both gentleness and clarity. So, to get to authenticity, you really keep going down to the bone, to the honesty, and the inevitability of something.”
– Meredith Monk
“Just be what you are and speak from your guts and heart – it’s all a man has.”
– Hubert Humphrey
“We need to find the courage to say NO to the things and people that are not serving us if we want to rediscover ourselves and live our lives with authenticity.”
– Barbara de Angelis
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
-Steve Jobs
So, due to all I’ve shared, my hope is you will think about all of this and begin to be aware of living your life in authenticity.
Here’s to loving yourself,
Connie
