Do you look at your life as a wonderful journey of discovery? Maybe some of the time, depending on what’s going on that day, right?
I’m asking you to stop often and begin to look at your life as a wonderful journey of discovery. Only how do you do this?
As you begin to make discoveries about yourself and the world around you, you awaken your sense of awe and wonder.
Think of a young child. Don’t they look at the world in this way more often than not? My 4 year old granddaughter looks at life this way. She began another year of preschool in a new school, knowing not a soul this past week.
I Facetime’d with her at the end of her first day. There was such wonder and excitement in the way she experienced this day. She began dance lessons this week for the first time as well. By the photos I saw of her in her beautiful dance outfit, she felt this joy and wonder, experiencing something she’s never done.
Why do we begin to lose this outlook as we get older? We get caught up in day to day things and forget to look at life as we did as a child.
I’m encouraging you keep your mind and heart open to new and fresh information and experiences as often as you can. As you do this, you’ll begin to view your life as a wonderful journey of discovery, more often than not.
It’s a conscious shift in your mindset isn’t it?
As you visit new places, meet new people and try your hand at new activities, as my granddaughter did, you will also begin to look at your life with wonder and excitement.
I know for me, when I am going to do something new or different, I can fall into the opposite feelings. What about you? That’s where my positive self-talk comes in. Asking God to be with me and guide me is very important as well.
When I begin to have fear or doubts about somewhere new I’m going or traveling to, or doing, I remember what I’m saying to you today. It’s up to you and you alone, to make these gentle shifts inside of yourself.
It’s like a muscle is strengthened as I accomplish something I am afraid of doing. At the end of my first Kauai Spiritual Retreat and the second, I felt as tall as the sky.
The same thing happens every time I accomplish anything. It strengthens me a person and as a leader.
I know you have experienced similar feelings when you’ve accomplished a goal or done something that you feared. How did you feel when you looked back at it?
Usually when I take my self or my humanness out of the equation, and know that what I’m doing is bigger than me, it’s easier to move through my fears.
Stop and put what it is you’re doing into perspective and why you’re choosing to do it.
Slow down, stop and appreciate, feel the wonder and awe in your life daily. Begin to look at your life as a wonderful journey of discovery!
Leave me a comment about your thoughts on this topic will you?
With love and blessings,
Connie
