How often do you find yourself feeling impatient?
This week my daughter Abby was here with me and Hale in Minneapolis, after I returned from Thanksgiving in Toledo with my parents and Toledo family.
She and I talked about my being impatient. She joked about it and called me Miss Impatient.
I realize when I’m impatient, sometimes I use the things I teach to help me move out of this lower vibration feeling. Sometimes not so much.
I’ve been looking at my impatience this week. I think as I stop and trust that what is going on with whatever situation, take a deep breath or two and really know that when things aren’t going as I imagined them, there’s something more for me to learn.
Tuesday Abby and I went over to the other side of the Twin Cities where I used to live. I had everything timed out for where we were to be throughout the morning and afternoon.
Everything was great and I enjoyed my present moments. Then at the end of the day, we stopped for me to buy Abby a pair of used ice skates at a family run store. Experts in everything for the ice!
It took over 90 minutes in this store. I never thought it would take that long. When you buy skates they have you wear them for about 15 minutes to mold to your feet and then put them in a warming oven so the leather will form and hold to your foot. Of course the blades need to be sharpened too etc.
See I don’t like heavy traffic and I avoid it the best I can. Well that day it was already going on 4 pm and I was getting stressed about the traffic.
I found myself more and more impatient.
Are you aware when you’re feeling a certain feeling that doesn’t feel very good?
I did my best to settle down and take deep breaths. Getting up before 6 am and not slowing down all day, caused me to be tired.
Have you heard of H.A.L.T.? Whenever you are Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired, you need to take care of yourself as soon as you become aware you’re feeling any of these feelings.
Because I know what I know about life and coaching and staying centered, when I do find myself in any of these feelings, I usually do something to shift myself around, as soon as I can.
When we got to the west side of the Cities near home, Abby needed to go into CVS to pick up some things. I chose to stay in the car and do a short meditation.
Bingo! Just what I needed! It helped me to shift out of the funky impatient feelings I had been feeling.
We came home and I was Abby’s sous chef as we prepared for a dinner we were having that night. Gone was the impatience with music on and I opened a good bottle of red wine!
So what do you do when you find yourself feeling impatient? I know on the Emotional Scale I share, impatience, irritation and frustration are number 10 on the right side of the scale, where your emotions are at a lower vibration.
When you live on this right side of the scale more moments than not each day, you are not living a life you love are you?
What I know for sure is life is a journey. As I look at these moments when I’m feeling any of the feelings on the right side of the Emotional Scale, and shift to a higher emotion, things will go more smoothly in my life.
I encourage you to take a look at this for yourself too. Look at the scale and see what feelings you find yourself living within regularly. Not beating yourself up is key! Be gentle with yourself and realize “this too shall pass”.
What are things you will commit to do throughout this month of December, when life can get crazy busy? Email me or comment below with your thoughts.
Take care of you!
With many blessings,
Connie
