As you do more of what feels like sunlight, you will feel your joy grow.
Similarly, to my article a couple weeks ago about staying close to people who feel like sunlight, doing things that feel this way, are very beneficial to your life.
First, I took a look at what these things are for me.
As I’m writing this article, it’s a gorgeous fall day here in Minneapolis. It’ sunny and 64 degrees.
Therefore, I took time to go sit out on our deck, listening to the leaves fall, and feeling that delicious warmth of the sunlight, bathe my face and body.
Then enjoying a walk through our neighborhood, listening to the birds and watching the leaves fall.
It all felt so amazing, I had that giddy feeling of appreciation and joy.
Another thing that feels like sunlight to me, is spending time with our grandkids.
All 5 of them, are a part of us. The older two, Gavin 19 and Phoebe, 16, have become so grown up. They help us when they are here, most Saturdays. It’s fun to spend time with them and appreciate who they are becoming as young adults.
Liv and Reid, are 9 and 6. I cherish each time I get to be with them. It’s usually once each month. I’d love it to be more.
Maybe as my daughter Abby, her husband James, and 13 month old Elianah, move here soon from Florida, and get settled in their home, 20 minutes from us, my son, Adam will bring the kids more often.
Being with Elianah, is so fun! Watching her take her first steps and learning to talk, brings me great joy.
Furthermore, spending time with my husband Hale, feels like sunlight. I appreciate so many things about him. One of them is I can truly be me around him.
He loves me no matter what. He’s understanding of how much I have flown back to Ohio and Florida to be with my parents and Abby and family, in the last few years.
It seems our relationship grows as we miss each other when I’m gone. I love how he doesn’t try to control me.
It feels like sunlight to me as Hale cooks our dinners most Saturdays and Sundays. Such a nice thing!
Writing my articles, now at the end of my 10th year, feels like sunlight to me.
I help myself and process, as I write and research, the different topics. And when I hear from others that what I’ve written has inspired or helped them in some way, is icing on the cake.
Going to Lifetime Fitness several days each week to take my weight and aqua classes, feels like sunlight to me. As well as my Tuesday morning walks.
Also, having a phone call with a friend or sibling, or spending time with them, gives me that same wonderful feeling. As does spending time with my amazing dad, Homer.
When I have hosted my retreats and my women circles, these both elicit the warm feelings of sunlight.
Spending my quiet time each morning reading my several inspirational books, writing in my gratitude journal and doing my afternoon meditation, feels like sunlight.
As I cook a delicious meal, or enjoy a delicious meal someone else has made, these make me happy. Another thing I greatly enjoy is a good glass of red wine.
I’m not an artsy person, only appreciating someone else’s art, is something I enjoy.
Lastly, now that you know many of the things that make me feel like sunlight, will you share with me yours?
I’d really love to hear from you!
With love and appreciation for you and so many things,
Connie
