Do you cherish those you love more as you’re getting older?
I’m finding as I go along in my years, I cherish those I love more and more.
I just flew home yesterday after spending a week with my parents, Homer and Mary, my daughter Abby, my siblings, other family members and old friends.
In my hometown, Toledo, Ohio, I found myself appreciating and cherishing most of my present moments.
We had a family reunion on my Mom’s side of the family.
As I was growing up, our two families were very close. My Aunt and Uncle have passed away, and now more than ever it’s important to stay connected with family. Because of Facebook, we all are remaining close.
I spent a week in Toledo, packed with so many wonderful interactions with family and friends! Swimming with two of my sisters and daughter, walking in a breast cancer race with my friend Debbie, Abby, and my cousin Kenny, going to my parents summer home near Lake Erie, playing cards with my parents and Aunt and Uncle while there, and the list goes on!
Taking time to talk with my mom and dad is so much fun and something I greatly cherish.
Do you take time to spend special moments with people you love?
I would urge you to consciously take the time to contact those you love more often. Stop and appreciate and cherish them.
My parents and family play cards games often. We spent evenings playing different cards games and interacting in a way that only this kind of fun/play gives us.
So often in this day and age, many of us are looking at our smart phones instead of talking, laughing and communicating with each other.
With my smart phone off to the side, so I wasn’t distracted by it, I could engage with who I was with.
I am very blessed to have my 85 year old mom and my 87 year old dad alive and doing well. They are still living in the same home I grew up in! I even stay in my old bedroom from my childhood! How amazing is that?
Now, back in my home with my love Hale, I am full and joyous! Being away from him provides time for each of us to cherish us too!
Leave me a comment of what you do to cherish those you love. I would enjoy hearing what you do!
Here’s to slowing down taking the time to cherish those you love,
Connie
Join me and a small group of people in Kauai October 27-November 3, 2017! It will be an epic time as we all learn to simply BE.
Imagine being transformed and rejuvenated with massage, our own chef and guides as you explore this magical island. I will be teaching you 10 Universal Laws, outside, near the ocean. You will watch sunsets and sunrises each day, steps from your cottage, feeling the ocean breezes and hearing the ocean waves.
