Appreciating and celebrating, milestone birthdays is important to me as I turn 70 soon.
Since I will be turning 70 on July 8th, I have been thinking about this milestone birthday of mine.
Because my daughter, Abby, asked me what would I like to do to celebrate, I knew I didn’t want a large party.
You see, for my 30th, 40th, 50th and 60th birthdays, I did celebrate these milestone birthdays with parties.
At this age and where I’m at, I told her, I didn’t want anything more than a nice dinner party with immediate family.
She will be hosting it on July 12th, with our 6 grandkids, she and her husband, my son and his fiancé and of course me and Hale.
Hale will be taking me out for a nice dinner on my actual birthday.
For me, both of these milestone birthday celebrations, will be just right.
Basically, as I look at my 70 years here on this planet, I feel like I’ve created quite a story. Worthy of a book.
However, I’m not going to be writing a book.
My weekly articles I’ve shared now in my 13th year, will need to suffice.
I’m sure most people look back at this age, and see how they have changed and become who they are today.
Similarly, that is what I’ve been doing recently.
As I look at my life from this vantage point, there are so many people who have helped me along this journey.
I have so much appreciation for all of them. Even the ones who caused me the most pain.
Furthermore, I know without one of these occurrence’s and people, I wouldn’t be who I am right now.
It does seem almost unbelievable that I’m this age.
Because I think in my mind, I’m still like 35 or 40 years old, it’s not easy to wrap my head around turning 70.
Yes, my body has limits these days of what I can do.
I’m healthy and I have stayed active over the years, yet, as I talked about last week, it’s important to listen to my body.
Consequently, my daily meditations have become something I need, to rejuvenate myself by mid afternoon.
I can still hear my mom say at this age, “When I look in the mirror, I expect to see a younger version of myself, since I feel so much younger.”
Do I have any regrets? Of course, I’m human and not perfect.
I must say, I choose not to focus on them.
All of my classes and retreats I’ve attended and hosted, my daily practices I’m diligent in doing, have helped me to move forward in my life.
Above all, I have developed my faith, and I use the Emotional Scale I’ve talked about so much, to keep from getting stuck.
Along with using and sharing the Universal Laws.
One thing I have found is a strength of mine, I’m pretty consistent with my daily practices.
They have all served me well as I have moved through and grown, with each of my milestone birthdays.
Lastly, the wisdom I have gained during my many years and experiences here, is priceless.
My many memories, I cherish.
Here’s to enjoying each of our milestone birthdays!
Love and appreciation,
Connie
