Allow Your Soul to EXPAND – the “E” in MOVE
by Rachel Wetzsteon, PhD
As human beings we often cause ourselves to become stagnant in our spiritual growth and this results in feeling a lack of vitality, a lack of joy, hardship, and being stuck. We feel like we are doing, doing, doing, and at the end of the day we feel a little empty and we wonder what is the point of all of this. We are meant to live lives of joy, love, prosperity, and health.
Our lives don’t have to be a struggle with constant pushing to make things happen. Our lives can flow like we are riding a wave, and whatever we need comes to us. Further, we can expect to have a child-like curiosity and enthusiasm from day to day. Then the questions become, how do we allow our joy, love, prosperity, and ease? How do we allow the expansion of our soul?
This can really be one of the easiest things that we will ever do, because it is as simple as allowing ourselves to be – to simply allow our mind to just be. Spiritual teachers refer to this as being present or in the now.
When we are keeping our minds busy thinking of past situations or resentments or regrets from the past, we are preventing ourselves from “living in the moment.” When we are stressing or obsessing about events or our to-do-list for the future, we are also preventing ourselves from being present. When we are living with our minds stuck in the past or future this also ignites all kinds of emotions, including fear, anger, guilt, and shame. Our negative emotions lead to detrimental effects for our physical body and our mental health.
In addition to practicing being present, a major life shift occurs when we realize that we are the creators of our lives. Through our personal vibration, thinking, and emotions we attract mirrors to us which are persons, places, and things, that are a reflection to us and our thinking. In order to change what we experience outside of ourselves, we must change ourselves from within by changing our thinking. If we believe there is never enough, then we will experience never enough. If we are not loving ourselves, then we will attract people who don’t treat us with love.
When we shift from the viewpoint of ‘life happens’ to ‘I create my experiences’, we can then intend to manifest better circumstances for ourselves. This is an important point. Let’s discontinue telling ourselves that we are unworthy or incapable and begin believing I am worthy, I am perfect health, I am brilliant.
An important way in which we heal our physical body and our thinking, and allow our souls to expand is through the practice of meditation. When we allow our minds to slow down, we allow ourselves to be in a space where healing can occur. The practice of meditation enables a shift from living from a lower-brain existence of fear, stress, and anxiety, to living from a higher-brain existence of joy, abundance, and confidence. There are also many, many health benefits of meditation.
For my clients, I recommend 20 minutes of meditation per day before I recommend any other lifestyle change. Meditation also awakens our intuition, or our higher self, which results in recognizing that we will be guided to what we need. Perhaps we will be guided to a forgiveness workshop, or maybe we will be guided to the right type of exercise for our body, or maybe our body will tell us to cut back or slow down.
Just know that our higher self knows what will enable the expansion of our soul and we just need to take notice and listen to ourselves. When we don’t listen to ourselves, life starts to become a struggle and we feel stuck.
Let’s create ease! Know that it is our birthright. We are powerful beyond what we can comprehend, and we can step into living from our soul by changing our limiting beliefs and living in the moment.
