You are never too old to set a new goal or realize a new dream. What do you think about this?
How often do you think you’re too old to do something?
This thought process is living within a limiting belief.
Remember a belief is just a thought you continue to think, repeatedly. A limiting belief is a belief that doesn’t serve you. It’s holding you back.
Yes, I am older now and as I shared last week about my aching back and body as I pull weeds, it doesn’t need to hold you back. Hold you back from looking at what you want and moving toward it.
Using the statement that “I’m too old” to achieve a goal or a dream you have, will keep you from realizing them. Don’t you agree?
Of course, there are things I’m not able to do right now, with a couple physical things I have going on with me. Like I haven’t been able to run or jog as one of my cardio workouts since I tore my meniscus in my left knee.
This doesn’t hold me back from still finding workouts I can do.
When I first had the dream to host a spiritual retreat in Hawaii, fear came into the picture. Fear of the unknown for me and could I really do this?
I bet fear comes into play for you too when you are moving toward a new goal or dream. It’s natural to be afraid.
It’s what you do with it after it shows up!
Thinking you’re too old to move toward it, will keep you from having your dream.
As I trusted my intuition about my spiritual retreat, things simply fell into place. My fears became much less. The same thing has happened with each of my fears I’ve had.
Once I get into action and trust my intuition, my worries fall away.
My friend, Lin Bruce at 60 years old, 20 years ago, made changes in her life. She wanted her 60th year to be something special and different. Here is part of her message from her website: http://www.yesithinkican.com
“I’m here to tell you that it’s never too late to say “yes” to bigger things. Even when you’re just an ordinary person like me, you can have extraordinary successes.
My big “yes” came when I turned 60 and decided to join a cross-country bicycle tour across the United States, from California to Florida. Up until then, I’d never ridden my bicycle farther than across town. But that was about to change. In the years since then, I’ve ridden from Virginia to Oregon, from the coast of Washington State to Bar Harbor, Maine, down the Pacific Coast, and around Lake Superior, among other routes. I even arrived at my 50th high school reunion in Cheyenne, Wyoming on a bicycle, having ridden 900 miles from Northfield, Minnesota!”
Today Lin is 80 years young, still cycling and is a motivational speaker, sharing her inspiring messages. If you’re looking for an inspiring speaker who knows that you’re never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream, go to her website and contact her! I’ve heard her speak and you’ll be glad you asked her to speak at your event.
What are things you want to achieve in your life? Keep dreaming, picturing and feeling how you want your life to be. Spend at least a few minutes each day doing this consciously. Then get into action like Lin did!
It’s dreaming which makes life so vibrant.
As we grow older, many forget this important point. We can become stuck in routines, responsibilities, and predictabilities. Some people can feel irrelevant and lack the energy to pursue ideas like they used to.
Age has something that youthfulness will never have. Wisdom, experience, discernment, patience, and perspective. So, when you begin to feel like you’re too old to achieve something, I hope you’ll stop and remember all of this.
Dreaming has no age limit. It really can ignite new passions inside of you. Know you’re never too old to set a new goal for your life or dream a new dream.
Go on an adventure with someone you love. Slow down. Take time to breathe. Live in your present moment. Pray, ask for guidance. Appreciate often.
Do you know that you have much to give to others in your life?
The fact that you are still here on this planet means that your business is not done here.
Take all of this information into account the next time you start to tell yourself you’re too old for whatever.
Contact me if you’d like to talk about this. Otherwise please send me a message with your thoughts.
