Spending special time with those you love is one of the most important things you can do.
Since I recently spent special time back in Indiana with several of my longtime friends, I’m writing about this.
You see, the Laker Chicks have been getting together now for 35 years. Covid was the one year we didn’t.
So, due to one of us living in Fairbanks, Alaska the last 10 years, we’ve worked out time around her visits back to Indiana.
Consequently, this year we met for the first time at the beginning of October.
We had glorious weather on the lake in southern Indiana.
As we floated on the rafts, ate our meals outside, took sunset pontoon cruises and played cards outside, we all felt how special it was.
Additionally, before the time together with the Laker Chicks, I was fortunate to spend some time with other friends.
As a result of living in Muncie, Indiana for 11 years, as my kids were born, I became friends with these women.
Since we all had children around the same age, this fostered and solidified our special friendships.
Many of us have moved away from Muncie, so spending time together is priceless.
Do you have friends as well, you’ve known for many years, who are special to you?
Similarly, I have a friend I met in first grade. Unfortunately, we don’t get to see one another very often since she lives in Houston, Texas.
Likewise, our other friend, since fifth grade, is still in Toledo, Ohio where I grew up. I do get to see her a couple times a year or so, when I’m back there with family.
We three were like the 3 musketeers throughout high school.
Luckily, we all got together in 2023 for our 50th reunion. That’s the last time we 3 friends and our spouses were together.
I get to see my friend from second grade, who lives just over one hour from Toledo in Michigan, when I’m back there as well.
Texts and phone calls have to do for me with all of these friends most of the year.
Recently, spending special time with our grandkids again was priceless.
At Elianah’s 4th princess, tea party birthday, we did get some photos of all 6 of them.
Watching them all together, really warms my heart.
Likewise, last weekend we had our two oldest and two youngest with us at the apple orchard and dinner out afterwards.
Our two middle grandkids were sick, so unfortunately, they weren’t with us this time.
Lastly, for me, it’s slowing down to feel how truly special it is to get to spend time with those I love.
How about you, are you aware of these wonderful moments with those you love?
I hope so.
Love and blessings to you,
Connie
