It may be challenging to live in your present moment.
Because I was able to live in my present moment on Thanksgiving day, I forgot to take any photos!
You see, I’m the one usually that remembers at family gatherings to get candid and groupings of family photos.
This time, we had less people present, so it was easier to talk to each person for at least a bit of time.
Therefore, it slipped my mind.
Lately, I’ve read and heard comments from others about their difficulty living in the present moment.
What do you do to remind yourself?
As I researched this topic, here are some things I found that may help:
“Many people want to learn more about how to live in the moment. Most of us have a tendency to live in the past or the future.
How often do you find yourself thinking about what happened yesterday, or what might happen tomorrow?
How does this affect your life and well-being?”
- First, of all, notice your surroundings. This may help you to stay present.
- Next, focus on one thing at a time. When you multi-task it is often harder to live in the present moment.
- Furthermore, practice gratitude. As you do, you will find appreciation in the moment.
- Also, practice deep breathing and meditation daily. As you do this, you will be aware of your thoughts and feelings.
- In addition, take technology and social media breaks.
- Lastly, take time to exercise. Whether it’s taking a walk, yoga, going to a class or following along with a video.
I have taught in the past something I came up with when working with my first business/life coach:
M.O.V.E.
It’s easy to remember when you think about what each letter in this acronym means.
“M” of M.O.V.E, is movement, of whatever kind you can muster up at the time. Get into action of some sort. Get your energy moving.
“O” of M.O.V.E. is about taking ownership for yourself and what is going on. Stop blaming yourself and others.
“V” of M.O.V.E. is verbalize. Find someone to talk with that feels safe and supports you. Stop holding it all inside!
“E” of M.O.V.E. is expand yourself spiritually and inter-personally.
Basically, following all of this, increases joy.
Send me any comments or questions you may have about this topic.
I’d like to hear from you!
Sending you love and joy,
Connie
