All of us have many blessings in our lives. You need to simply slow down and pay attention.
All the recent happenings with my mom, have shown me and my family the many blessings we have in our lives.
I’m home now from Toledo. It felt odd to leave after being present for the appointments, procedures and everything else in between.
I feel honored to have been of help to both of my parents.
However, the knowledge that mom was back to her old self, made it easier to leave and go back to my life.
The feeling of having many blessings came, as I watched my mom heal from her procedures, rather quickly.
She’s a fast healer.
As I watched her take her first chemo treatment like a champ, I felt pride as she entered her new normal, in stride.
Her faith is one major reason and the love that surrounds her from family and friends.
That evening, after I flew home, I received a text from one of my sisters that mom went with her to choir practice at their church.
Singing is one of my mom’s passions. Because she was able to go that evening, it helped create joy for mom. She’ll sing in the choir this coming Sunday and as many Sundays as she feels like it.
Our hope is, mom will stay strong through her chemo treatments and continue to enjoy her life.
All of the love that was there, as we all rallied around my parents, was priceless. As I’ve mentioned, we have a very large family!
My dad was even able to go on his day fishing trip on Lake Erie, with other family members. Fishing is one of my dad’s passions.
Because they’re doing what they enjoy, it helps me to feel good.
The photo above is from my nieces wedding at the end of March 2019. It’s fun to see my parents dance. They’ve been together now for 71 years! 69 years of marriage in February 2020. Amazing! Not many people make it that long in a happy marriage either!
I always cherish the mornings and evenings I get to spend with my parents. We have lots of great talks.
Therefore, the fact that I still get to be in the home I grew up in while I’m there, is always appreciated. When I get to be with them again at Thanksgiving, it will be exactly 5 weeks since I left.
Aren’t the photos below great? These were taken in July 2019, when my childhood friend, Debbie and I stayed with them at their summer home, near Lake Erie.
I’m hoping you will slow down, appreciate and find your many blessings you have in your life too.
With love and appreciation,
Connie
