Making healthy choices over the years, really pays off. I am finding that out, as I recently turned 70 years old.
First, since 1974, I began consciously to make healthy choices. Not always, only the majority of the time.
You see, at 19 years old, that year, I took my first personal growth class and learned how to meditate and so much more.
Two of the participants, were a couple who owned a well known health food store.
Attached to the store, was a healthy restaurant as well.
Since they offered cooking classes, I learned many new things.
Similarly, I found out when something works for me, I stick with it.
Consistency, became a choice I made when what ever it was, was good for me.
I began creating healthy habits from choosing consistency.
For example, over the years I have been taking healthier vitamins, as well as receiving regular chiropractic and acupuncture.
For almost 44 years now, I have been exercising regularly. Included was weight baring exercise 2-3 times each week.
This past week, I found out after a bone density Dexa scan, my bones are that of a late 30 to early 40 year old woman. Taking a good calcium, magnesium and vitamin D3, have added to my great results.
All because of the healthy choices I made over the years, the doctor said.
You see, consistent weight baring exercises, helps not only increase your muscle mass, it increases your bone density.
In addition, guarding your mindset and attitude, using the Emotional Scale I share often, add to a healthier, happier you.
As do, prayer, meditation, daily inspirational readings and surrounding yourself with people you love and enjoy.
Do things you love to do. Sing, dance, laugh, spend time outside away from screens.
Consequently, when I turned 70 in July, it was hard to wrap my head around that number, since I still feel in many ways, 30 years younger.
I’m grateful to myself now, as I look back, for my healthy choices I made regularly, over the years.
One of the benefits is not needing to be on any medications. My plan is to have it stay that way until I leave this earth.
Lastly, my advice to anyone at any age, especially the younger people: begin paying attention to your choices you make daily. In every aspect of your life. Make sure you sleep a good amount of hours each night, that’s best for you, as well.
Add in the weights 2-3 times each week, even if it’s 3-5 pounds.
Since I’ve found out, even using these lighter weights, in recent years, has kept me stronger.
And remember, balance is vital with so many things you are choosing for yourself.
With love and appreciation,
Connie
