Your mindset is vital to living a youthful life.
Why? Because what you are thinking about yourself, people, situations, and your life, will eventually become who you are and what you have in your life.
Your mindset is that important if you want to live youthfully.
First, if you are constantly thinking of things you don’t want in your life, you will become someone who isn’t pleasant to be around.
Similarly, when you are focusing on what you are afraid of, and who or what you’re unhappy with, same thing.
Consequently, you will become an unhappy person who complains and you will find yourself living an unhappy life.
You will be creating things in your life that in your heart of hearts, you truly don’t want.
For an example, 8 years ago, I was with my dear 104 year old friend and mentor, Lorna, who had a great mindset.
Comparatively, I told her about two 103 year old ladies I saw in a video on FB. These two ladies were complaining and using cuss words on a TV program they were being interviewed for.
In contrast, Lorna seemed so much younger than these two ladies.
Lorna immediately said to me, “It’s mindset, mindset, mindset”.
Lorna was always a joy to be around. She passed away after her 105th birthday. I wish you could have known her. What an example she was for everyone.
You need to become aware of your thoughts throughout everyday. Stop as often as you can, and check in with yourself to see where your mindset is.
Pay attention to what you’re feeling at that moment. Use the Emotional Scale I talk about often, to assess where you are at.
Your emotions are your guidance system, telling you what you are thinking.
The more positive thoughts you have, the better you will feel in any given moment. Sometimes I find it hard to keep myself on the left side of the Emotional Scale where your vibrations and energy are higher.
Hence what works so often for me, is to take a few moments to look around and find someone or something to appreciate.
Above all, appreciation is a doorway to move yourself to the left side of the scale or on to feeling more uplifted.
Because I recently celebrated my 70th birthday, I’ve been challenged with keeping my mindset positive.
Thankfully, I have lots of tools I use to shift myself, into positive thoughts. You see, this age has been hard to wrap my mind around.
I feel so much younger. People gave me some great ideas for seeing being 70, as a positive.
We need to guard our thoughts and our mindset carefully and intentionally. As you do this, you will begin to create a happier, more joyful life, with more things going on that you truly love.
Your relationships will change for the better. Stop and appreciate what you have in your life. Your mood will change to more joy, and you’ll begin to feel more love for yourself and others.
Finally, my action step this week, is to slow down and pay attention to how I feel and what thoughts I have.
Then take my own advice with everything I said above.
What is it you do to shift your mindset to the left side of the Emotional Scale? I’ll add the scale below as a reminder.
Love and blessings to you,
Connie
