Gratitude – Expressing a Great Attitude
By Lynn Koll
When I told my husband last night about writing this article on “gratitude”, he showed me how to break the word down into Gratitude = Great Attitude.
That is so true – our attitude changes everything! Even as we look at all the chaos and confusion in the world, we can change our attitude and realize there is so much more to be grateful for than to complain about.
In my own life, when I become conscious and turn on my Great Attitude, my heart opens to see all the beautiful blessings of love, peace, abundance and joy that are around me everywhere.
When I am not feeling so grateful, all I need to do is sit in Nature.
In Nature, I see the prosperity and abundance of life everywhere! I see the willpower of the tiniest seeds trying to take root and sprout upward to raise their leaves to the sun in gratitude! The birds chirp and sing each morning as if to say thank you for a new day.
One of the greatest moments of each day is to wake up early with the sunrise and chirping birds, and ignite my Great Attitude for all the blessings in life.
It’s easy to feel grateful when things are going our way, but what about those times when we are dealing with stressful situations and are filled with grief, depression and despair?
It has been challenging for me to face the ALS diagnosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) of my family members. Both my father and older sister died of this disease, and my brother Kevin is currently battling ALS in his life. From these experiences of loss, I have the opportunity to learn great lessons and opportunities for living.
I have learned that everything happens for a reason.
Each of us comes to this Earth to live a purpose, and part of our mission is to discover our unique gifts and passions, enabling us to have fun, live joyfully, and share our gift of service!
The greatest conduit to unlock our life purpose is to embrace the gift of love. By witnessing the death process of others, I see the true priority in life which is giving and receiving unconditional love. Love is all that matters, and even through death and chaos, we have the opportunity to witness love in action.
Both love and gratitude are high frequency emotions.
Being in a high vibration catalyzes our life force energy and ability to be happy. The source of our ability to love, stems from our own self-love, where we feel gratitude to our Source for the gift of being here, living life as it divinely unfolds, and always doing our best to live our highest purpose in harmony with life.
This is where we will leave our legacy!
My perception about life shifts when I have a Great Attitude about Gratitude! I am grateful to be involved with organizations like OASIS Center for Conscious Living, where we are starting a community garden and are meeting each week to share in the Mother Earth’s healthy bounty!
I am enthused about being part of the Awesome Women community, where we as women gather to share our dreams and visions for our lives and for humanity.

I will close with these words of wisdom from my late sister Annie who taught me about having a Great Attitude:
“Live everyday of your life * Look for the positive * Seek joy, peace, fun and people * Travel a lot, laugh a lot * Live your life without regret * Tell your loved ones you love them * We do not know what tomorrow will bring, so make today the best it can be.”
